One needs to only look at how well the Garmin R10 is selling (despite some accuracy concerns) and the Skytrack (despite being 2k). Maybe I am wrong and golf professionals were the market, but it seems like there is a huge untapped market for offering simulation to the average golfer. Your looking at, as I read it, a minimum of 400 a year to do any simulation and 800 a year to get all the stats. Skytrack does charge a years subscription to get all of the data but I think it is cheap enough that many people find it acceptable.Īpplying that logic to these and the GC3 is immediately out of the average golfers price range and while maybe they stretch to 3k for the Bushnell unit the subscription model kills it. Look at how long some people have had their skytrack units. Now when looking at something this expensive I generally do the math and figure if its something I can use for 5+ years the cost starts coming down on a per year basis. ![]() ![]() I have to imagine there are a number of others that fall into the same category. Even that is a lot in my mind, this coming from someone who certainly has the disposable income to spend on a higher unit then the skytrack but I am just not THAT serious about golf to make it worth it in my mind. Speaking as an average weekend warrior type golfer I can say the sky track price level ($2000) is about as high as I could see my self going for the unit its self. To me it seems like with a 3k price they were trying to break into the top end of the "average golfer" market, stealing some of the Skytrack users. Personally I think they missed the mark here unless the intention was golf professionals.
